DEERFIELD – On Thursday October 27th, Senator Dick Durbin visited State Senator Julie Morrison’s campaign office to show his support for her re-election. Senator Durbin visited briefly with over 30 volunteers who came in to help that morning.

Senator Durbin had high praise for the volunteers. “It was great to see so many people who were willing to share their time,” said Durbin. “This is an important election not only for our state, but for our country. We need continued support from volunteers like you to ensure success in November.”

Morrison was very appreciative of Senator Durbin for visiting the district to support her. “It was great for Senator Durbin to show his support and meet my volunteers. He is a great example of a Senator who knows how to work with his colleagues,” said Morrison. “Durbin is part of the culture in the Senate that will work to get things done, not block bills or filibuster for trivial reasons.”

After lunch, Senator Morrison brought Senator Durbin to KESHET group home in Highland Park. Where he got to see the great work that KESHET does providing a community based care environment for individuals with intellectual challenges. Senator Morrison is the Chair of the Illinois General Assembly’s Special Needs Caucus, and working promote resources for individuals with disabilities has been one of her passions over her first term.

Julie Morrison is running for State Senate in the 29th Legislative District. Morrison is a leader in the field of child welfare, gun violence prevention, and a strong advocate of fiscal responsibility and ethical government.
